How to choose the appropriate lining?

We often receive many questions about garments and their fabrics, but one of the most frequently asked questions lately has undoubtedly been about linings.

But, what are linings to clothing?

We add linings to our garments to separate the fabric from the skin and also to give more strength to our fabrics.

With them we can achieve both more concealed seams and a better presentation, durability, protection and comfort of the garments.

Pero… What types of fabrics do we need for our linings?

It is important to know we will need one type of lining or another for each garment we use, as well as one type of fabric or another.

As we can see, for lining the crepe we will have to use the same fabric or a lining poplin. We do not need it to stretch, it is an opaque and non-elastic fabric.

For the transparent fabric we will have to check that the color of the gauze without lining does not modify the color of the gauze with lining, because if that were to happen the garment would be modified and without the colors we want.

Linings in our evening dresses?

Sometimes we wonder if linings are comfortable and practical for evening dresses los forros son cómodos y prácticos, so here we have the answer!

As Felipe explains, for our evening dresses and garments, we can use a Crep in which the weft of the thread is a little elastic, where we will join it with a lining of Acetate fabric model Ebro.

For a dress or garment where we use a lace fabric over the Dama fabric, it is advisable to have a good lining for our dress to look perfectly.

Nowadays fashion has reached a point where color contrasts create a unique and personal look.

Lining in classic flamenco dress.

To create the lining of a classic flamenco dress we will use a poplin of batiste, that is to say, of fine fabric, fundamentally so that the lining can be detached from the body. The poplin has to be cotton because it cannot stretch and has to have the same weight as the rest of the fabrics used.

When lining a polka dot fabric, the lining must be of the same color as the polka dot, so that it cannot be dyed in another color, especially when the polka dots are whitish or too light in color.

Knitted fabric with lining.

For our knitted garments we will need a lining of the same quality, and if possible elastic. Why the same quality? It's easy, if we take fabrics of equal quality we can give a superior impact to the garment.

For our lining in knitted fabric we will use as printed fabric a Parayas Knit and for its supposed lining, as we have explained above, we will need a fabric of the same quality, so we will focus on the same Parayas knit but in plain color.
