As we have many sizes will pick as a reference the more used, they usually go to the 36 to 42 (Spanish size). So let go to start!

Base body

We understand base body as the outer part of the dress. In that case we need about 9 meters of fabric, where we include the sleeves and some frill that you want to put on the dress. Obviously, everything will depends of the volume that you want to give to the dress.

As for the fabric, you can choose whatever you like, there is nothing specific, everything depends whatever you want to get, the initial idea and the creativity of each one.

Lining

For this part we will need about 1,25 meters, but if you want to make sure, you only need to measure the length that goes from the shoulder until knee. The sleeves don't need to be lining. The sleeves don't need to be lining.

For this part there is some fabrics that are more suitable than others, in this case it is recommended use batiste or poplin. Is important to know if the base body fabric is spandex or not, because the lining will must carry it as well.

Petticoat

This is the part that we can found under the skirt, this help to give more volume and body, in this part also we can add a pocket to keep the keys, movile, etc. To do it we will need a 4 meters of fabric, two of them we'll use it for get a frill.

THe ideal fabrics for this will be the organdy or can-canby the volume they contribute, althougt they have differences between them. The can-can is a rigid fabric, while the organdy is more loose and elegant, but is don't give so much volume than the can-can.

Here we let you with this video made by our coworker Felipe where he explains all we've been talking about in this post. We hope it has helped you for the moment of shopping fabrics for your dress.
