As a result of COVID-19 emergency, as you know well, the masks they've been in short supply and a lot of us have stared to do them ourselves with no idea which fabrics are suitable for protect us from the virus. But, do you know which are the suitable real one for a good protection?
Here we let you some of them:
NWF (Non Woven Fabric)
Is a fabric made as of series of united fiber, it don't have a weaved thread, is made with fiber that it tangle, press and by the fusion or for heat treatments it compacts. In the end, it isn't a weave fabric but compact thing that does the pore be very cover and does it being a perfect filter ally against the virus.
Between some characteristics we found water resistant, up and down tempeture resistant and is the most recommended fabric for made all kind of hygienic confection (hats, dressing gown, mask filters...)
But don't forget to throw it out, is just a single use filter.
What can we do for make the NWF not a single use filter?
To not make a lot of single use mask we can use the NWF as a liner, in the inside part, and cover it with a cotton fabric for more protection, in the outside part.
Hydrofuged poplin
Is a transpirable and lasting fabric, this is poplin fabric, in addition if subdue into a hydrofuged disinfection process it convert in a filter for the mask, and it start to call Hydrofuged Popelín.
Very important not confuse with normal poplin, if it isn't hydrofuged , isn't work it.
The hydrofuged treatment makes ir waterproof and antibacterial fabric, resistant to 5 washes at 90º.
Cotton
As we said previously, for the structure, base or outside part of the mask we will use cotton. We can find it in a multiple styles, print or plain, with a lot of colors that they contribute to give to your mask a personal touch. So go to find your favorite fabric and let's do it!

Hydrofuged Cotton

Microfiber
This name is due that is made with fine individual fibers. And among of their qualities highlight the soak up, clean, and resist capacity in front of 90º washes, more than enough for fight the virus. This fabric is perfect both as use like filter or base, no needed to add a filter in between, although if you want more security always can add another one.
We have to remember that the recommended is, at least, 60º as wash temperature for end with the virus and we can wash this fabric until 90º without deterioration fear.
