5 keys to choosing the fabrics for a pilgrimage

We are often asked which fabrics are the most suitable for a pilgrimage.

Today we will try to answer that question by focusing on the basic needs that every romera should take into account::

1. Comfortable fabrics

Comfort is a maxim for any pilgrim. The long hours walking, in the sun, with the dust and the tiredness make us look for comfortable fabrics (and costumes)that support us and help us on the route.

For this, nothing better than cotton: a natural, breathable and comfortable fabric.

Its breathability allows air to circulate through the fabric, keeping the skin cool and dry.

HARU. Reference: 02757/85-0207. 100% cotton fabric with regular polka dot pattern of 0.90 cm.

As it is a natural fabric, it is a very absorbent material, as well as being easy to wash and maintain.

2. Drop cloths

Along the way there are stops where people gather and accumulate. Because of this, they look for suits that take up less space; suits with less volume..

For this, we would like to remind you of the new collection, model ZALABI:

ZALABI. Reference: 04111/01-0856. Bi-elastic crepe fabric with 0.50 cm. polka dot pattern.

Moving on to the next point, many women opt for a suit without a petticoat to save weight. For this, it is advisable to choose fabrics with a drape to play with movement.

In this case we will opt for a thick, elastic, georgette-type chiffon, model ZAGRA.

ZALABI. Reference: 04117/01-0207. Stretch chiffon fabric with 0.40 cm. polka dots printed on it.

ZALABI. Reference: 04117/07-0207. Stretch chiffon fabric with 1.30 cm. printed polka dots.

3. Lightweight fabrics

The Way and the already mentioned search for comfort, make the majority of pilgrims opt for lightweight costumes.

To achieve this, we will have to play with the design, but also with the characteristics of the fabric itself, which is light and lightweight.

For this, we recommend our FACTORY model. A fabric with a good quality-price ratio that, although it wrinkles, will give us that freshness, lightness and movement that we love so much in romera fashion.

4. Fast-drying fabrics

The splashes and incidents of the route, as well as the possibility of wanting to wash a suit, make it necessary to look for fabrics that dry quickly.

For this, we will opt for our well-known crepe: NATASHA in its printed version or TORA in plain.

Another option is this article from the New Collection, model MURTAS. A thin and elastic crepe that, in addition to providing movement, freshness and flamenco, will dry quickly if we need it to.

5. Non-wrinkling fabrics

The long walks and the demands of the road mean that we choose fabrics that do not wrinkle. Although the French actress Simone Signoret popularised the expression "wrinkles are beautiful", we know that, on pilgrimages, it is more practical to opt for wrinkle-free fabrics.

We leave you some options, such as this new 2024: model CHAVELA. Our georgette type crepe that will give us the comfort of the crepe, the freshness of the georgette and the movement of both.

Extra Keys:

We extend these following tips with three very romantic trends, which should not be forgotten:

Small print

The romería costumes are characterised by polka dots or small prints, such as flower, vichy or paisley.

Combined two-piece

Another popular trend is to choose a two-piece suit, shirt and skirt.

Linen or Yarn Effect Fabrics

As we have already seen, freshness and comfort is a maxim in Roman fashion. Therefore, we cannot forget the linen or yarn effect fabrics, fresh and comfortable by nature.

On this occasion, we have the perfect fabric for romeras who prefer this look. This is the TURON model, from the New Collection. A fabric similar to linen, with a rustic look, which does not wrinkle as much as if it were 100% linen and softer thanks to the cotton in its composition.
