Which fabrics are the most suitable for flamenco dancing?

Many times you ask us which fabrics to choose to dance in a flamenco show.Well, although the dance is the key piece, we must not forget the importance of the costume. A help that will help us to complete the show, giving it a showiness and enhancing the movements.

Knitted fabrics

When we are dancing we must look for a maximum: comfort. And nothing better than a silk knit. An elastic fabric that only stretches to one side.

Crepe fabrics

This is a durable fabric, quite light, matte and rough to the touch, with a wide variety of prints. This type of fabric will give our dresses drape as well as body, although it is not elastic.

Elastic velvet

If we look at the trends of recent years seen on stage, we see how velvet has taken consistency for this type of clothing. It is a bi-elastic fabric, elegant and with a lot of presence, which does not wrinkle.

Lace fabric

To complete the dress and give it a personal touch or to play with transparencies , lace will be our best ally. Of course: we must make sure that it is an elastic fabric. This way the fabric will adapt to our body, following every movement before returning to its natural shape.

Other fabrics

While it is true that we have just named the four most used fabrics, there are a wide variety of fabrics with which to complement our suit.

An example of this are spandex fabrics, ideal for body. It is a resistant and opaque fabric, which will give us freedom of movement and comfort.

So are the elastic tulle, for sleeves and backs, for example. Its transparency will allow us to play with visual effects while its elasticity will not interfere with the movements of the dance.

Or chiffon, to combine and give flight and movement.

Finally, we would like to highlight strech fabric, a basic but very resistant fabric, ideal for tailoring tailing gowns, thanks to its resistance, comfort and durability.

And you, which fabric do you prefer for dancing? Did you know any of those we have presented? We encourage you to share with us all your doubts and confections.
